East Lansing, Mich. - Junior Nick Bodmer was never able to get on track at the 2001 Omni Hotels ITA Midwest Men's Tennis Championships, making it a quick weekend for the Flames' top performer this season.

Bodmer, who earned a bye in the opening round of the tournament, faced Northwestern's Jamie Sahara in his first match. Sahara had a slight advantage heading into the contest, getting a match under his belt with a straight set win over Wright State's Chad Derry, 6-4, 7-5, in the opening round.

Sahara would roll that over into his match with Bodmer, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph.

"Bodmer never found his rhythm," Head Coach Hans Neufeld remarked. "He just came out flat and couldn't get things going.

"He's a tough competitor, though," Neufeld continued. "I'm not to worried about him."

On the doubles side, things didn't go much better for Bodmer as he and teammate Jon Schmidt dropped their first round affair to Forsberg and van Wasbeek of Northern Illinois, 8-3.

The ITA Championship wraps up the fall campaign for the Flames who will resume competition on January 23, 2002, when they travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to battle Marquette.
