VALPARAISO - The UIC men's tennis squad traveled to league foe Valparaiso over the weekend for the Valpo Fall Invite in Indiana.

The Flames found great success in the three-team tournament, besting league foes from host Valparaiso as well as Lewis University.

On Friday's first round in the hidden dual format, the UIC trio of Nate Kirk, Alan Reifer and Rahul Kamath defeated their opponents from Valparaiso in straight sets.

Newcomer Gautham Oroskar, who paired up with Camilo Giraldo and Alex Marginean, was victorious over Valpo's Adam Whitmer in a 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 victory in the other singles grouping.

Kamath and Reifer capped off the first day of competitions with victories against their second Valpo opponents, as Reifer also defeated Whitmer, 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 10-4.

UIC's success continued into the final two rounds of singles action, as Jimmy Li, Oroskar, and Marginean all picked up wins against their opponents on Saturday. Kamath finished a weekend singles sweep with a 4-0 record, finishing off Eric Honert of Valparaiso with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 10-6 win.

The Flames are idle until fall action resumes at the ITA regional October 21-25, hosted by Notre Dame before closing out the season at the Western Michigan Invitational October 29-31st in Kalamazoo, Mich.
