Sebastian Lystad And Dave Robare Win Doubles Title At Valpo Fall Classic

Valparaiso, Ind. - The UIC men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Valpo Fall Classic on Saturday, returning to Chicago with two event titles as well as a pair of finalists. Sebastian Lystad and Dave Robare made their way through the top doubles bracket with ease, advancing to the finals after defeating opponents from Youngstown State and Dayton. The UIC duo defeated another Dayton pairing, Michael Rohana and David Peyton with a score of 8-5 in the finals for the A doubles title. After defeating teammate Nate Kirk 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals, Robare defeated Bryce Warnock from Dayton in the B singles championship. The freshman took the match from his A-10 opponent in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-2. In the A singles bracket, Sebastian Lystad was defeated in the semifinals by the eventual champion, Detroit's Pjotrs Necajevs 6-3, 6-3. The 2009 spring season will be the first time the Titans will have a men's tennis team in since the sport was eliminated in 1995. Tim O'Brien, who advanced to the C singles finals after a 6-3, 6-3 semifinal win over fellow Flame Khaled Abou-Ouf, was defeated in the finals by Dayton's Michael Koscielski 2-6, 6-3, 10-6. O'Brien and Bastian Harbo won the third-place match in the B doubles bracket, defeating Horizon League rivals Kyle Stump and Phidias Fortune of Valparaiso in a score of 9-8 (7-5). UIC's final fall tournament will be in Columbus, Ohio at the ITA Regional Championships, October 16-20.
