Men's Tennis Defeats Detroit To Advance To Horizon League Tournament Semifinals

INDIANAPOLIS - The UIC men's tennis team opened up the Horizon League tournament with a 4-0 sweep of Detroit on Friday afternoon, advancing to Saturday's semifinals against Butler.
The second-seeded Flames (12-7) claimed the doubles point off of victories at the first and third positions. Sebastian Lystad and George Hudson defeated Pjotrs Necajevs and Dustin Goldenberg at No. 1, 8-6, while Dave Robare and Nathan Kirk downed David Stabley and Nick Tolomei, 8-2 at No. 3 to move the match to singles play.
The Flames will meet up with the Bulldogs on Saturday at 10:30 a.m for the right to advance to Sunday's championships. UIC defeated Butler, 5-2, when they met earlier this season.
