Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's tennis team, which snapped its 13-game losing streak with a victory over Youngstown State last Friday, was unable to continue its winning ways as they fell 5-2 to Valparaiso on Tuesday afternoon at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Facility.

Under the seven-point scoring format, the Crusaders jumped out early on the Flames, sweeping the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Vijay Krishnamoorthy put UIC on the board as he took the first set in his No. 6 singles match, then held on for a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 triumph. Freshman Nick Bodmer, competing in the No. 1 singles slot, gave the Flames their other tally, coming back from a first set setback to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Unfortunately for UIC, it was not enough as Valparaiso won the No. 2-5 singles frays to take home the 5-2 triumph.

Chuck Cunningham's crew, which fell to 5-21 on the year with the loss, has two regular-season matches left on the 2000 slate, both Midwestern Collegiate Conference clashes.

The Flames travel to Green Bay, Wis., on Saturday, April 22, to battle the Phoenix at 9:00 a.m. Later that afternoon, UIC will take on Wright State in Green Bay.
