Men's Tennis Drops A Pair Of 4-1 Decisions To Eastern Illinois And Morehead State

Charleston, Ill. - The men's tennis team dropped a pair of 4-1 decisions this weekend to host Eastern Illinois on Saturday and to Morehead State on Sunday. Sophomore Nick Bodmer (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) was the top performer for the Flames (4-13) as he earned a pair of victories at No. 2 singles. Bodmer defeated Eastern Illinois' Lukas Pluta, 2-6, 6-0, 3-1 (ret.), and added a 6-3, 6-1 win on Sunday over Morehead State's Santiago Sahagun. Bodmer's two victories in singles action tied him for 13th with Ivan Salazar (1984-86) in UIC history with 24 wins. "We played some really good teams," men's tennis coach Chuck Cunningham said. "We hung in there and we fought. There are some lessons to be learned from this weekend particularly down the stretch with conference coming around soon."
