Dallas, Texas- The UIC men's tennis team concluded their spring trip through Texas on Wednesday, but it wasn't they way they had hoped as the Flames were defeated by Southern Methodist University, 7-0, in Dallas.

UIC (6-7) was unable to post a point to a good Mustangs squad (10-6) in the annual battle of the Neufelds, as SMU head coach Carl Neufeld defeated UIC head coach and younger brother Hans Neufeld.

Ivan Kovalev continued to play impressive tennis, this time in defeat. Kovalev notched the first set against Paul McNaughton in their No. 1 singles battle, but the big junior was unable to pull out the match as McNaughton took the final two sets, 6-3, 6-1.

UIC is back in action on March 30th as the Flames host Olivet Nazarene at the UIC Outdoor Courts at 3 p.m.
