Men's Tennis Scorches Texas-Tyler, 6-1

Tyler, Texas- The UIC men's tennis team swept three close doubles matches to grab an early lead that they never relinquished to secure a 6-1 road victory over the University of Texas at Tyler on Monday. The win helped the Flames (6-6) evened their overall record while snapping a three-match losing skid. UIC snared the doubles point with three two-point wins. The Flames took the first two by identical 8-6 scores while clinching the third 9-7. Ivan Kovalev won his third match in a row with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over Adam Stone. Karol Zarucki won a solid 7-6(8), 6-1 contest over Patrick Painter, while newcomer Enrico Kasjan posted a strong two-set win over Joseph Vann, 6-3, 6-0. The Flames also won the close matches, as Eric Fey took a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 back-and-forth thrille over Jordan Repsher at No. 4 singles, while Sean Kreymborg won a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 comeback marathon match over Kevin Cook.
