Men's Tennis Splits In Texas March 18, 2003
Dallas, Tex. - The UIC men's tennis team is taking a break from the classroom, but is wasting little time in getting to the courts. In Dallas on Saturday, the Flames were defeated by St. Joseph's, 7-0, but came back on Monday and knocked off Texas-Tyler,6-1. Amol Desai and Pat Zufan teamed to win at No.3 doubles versus St. Joe's for the Flames' lone win. Versus UT-Tyler, John Cincola, Nick Bodmer, Desai, Neil Ahluwalia and Zufan each picked-up singles wins, while Desai and Zufan moved up to No.2 doubles to beat Long and White, 9-7. Cincola and James Wonneberg won at No.3 doubles, 8-6, over Steven Brouer and Blake Ericsson.
The Flames hit the courts in Big D again on Wednesday against Southern Methodist in a brotherly battle between UIC head coach Hans Neufeld and SMU head man Carl Neufeld. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
