Men's Tennis Head Coach Hans Neufeld Wins 100th Career Match

HINSDALE, Ill. - The UIC men's tennis team defeated Southern Illinois 5-2 on Saturday at the Hinsdale Racquet Club, earning head coach Hans Neufeld his 100th career match win. In doubles play, the Flames took all three matches to earn the doubles point for the match. Sebastian Lystad's doubles win ties him with Eric Frey for UIC's all-time doubles win leader with 56. Lystad also moved closer to the all-time singles win leader, when he came back to defeated Salukis' Brandon Florez in three sets 4-6, 7-6(4), 10-2. Luis Gonzaga continued his winning ways on Saturday, when he defeated Chikara Kidera in two straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Freshman Camilo Giraldo turned out another top performance, beating Pavlo Buryi 6-2 in set one and sweeping set two 6-0. The win extends the Flames match win streak to six. UIC goes for seven in a row when they travel to Wichita, Kan. on Wednesday March 3 to take on Wichita State at 12 p.m. Singles
