Toledo, Ohio- The University of Illinois at Chicago men's tennis team dropped its first match of a two-meet road trip this weekend, losing a tough 5-2 battle to Toledo at the Laurel Hill Tennis Club on Saturday evening.

UIC (1-6) was paced by freshman Artsem Burmistrau, who bounced back from his first singles loss of the season to handily defeat Khalid Al Nabhani at the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-2.

The Flames also received a strong performance from Pat Zufan, who downed Brian Rager 6-4, 7-5 at No. 6 singles. The win was Zufan's second straight singles victory.

UIC was unable to put anything else on the board against the host Rockets, who have won five straight at home. Toledo swept the three doubles matches for the doubles point and took four of six singles bouts.

The Flames return to action on Sunday against Ferris State in Toledo, Ohio.
