Men's Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision at Illinois State|

NORMAL, Ill. - Freshman Christopher Cole extended his No. 4 singles match to three sets, but the UIC men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 dual match decision against Illinois State at Evergreen Racquet Club Saturday afternoon. The Redbirds captured the doubles point, and cruised to six-consecutive victories in singles play, including five in straight-sets.
The `Birds claimed the doubles point with a pair of 8-4 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions. Alexander Raa and Rahul Kamath teamed to make up the Flames' top singles duo, while Alan Reifer and Cole matched up at the second doubles position. The No. 3 doubles match went into the books unfinished.
Cole outlasted his ISU counterpart in the first set of the No. 4 singles match, winning in a tiebreaker. He dropped the second set 6-0, and in a shortened tie-breaker in the third, 10-6. Raa dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision at the top singles position, while Isaac Lloveras fell short at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3.
Reifer (6-2, 6-2), Maurizio Feoli (6-4, 6-2) and Kamath (6-1, 6-2) all fell in straight-sets at the respective No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles flights.
UIC will complete its weekend road trip at No. 33 Northwestern Sunday night. First serve from Combe Tennis Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
