Men's Tennis Aced By Northern Iowa Feb. 9, 2001 Flossmoor, Ill. - The UIC men's tennis team fell to 1-3 on the season as they were swept, 7-0, against Northern Iowa on Friday afternoon at the Homewood-Flossmoor Racquet Club. "I saw some very good things out there," UIC men's tennis coach Chuck Cunningham said. "The score is not indicative of how we played. There has been a significant improvement since we played Marquette (a 7-0 loss). "There are signs of progress." Senior Jason Kerr (No. 5) and freshman Amol Desai (No. 6) took their opponents to the limit but each fell in their respective matches. Kerr won his first set against Northern Iowa's Jon Houghton before dropping a 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 decision. Desai was equally as stubborn as he took the first set from the Panthers' Ville Sippala before losing 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. UIC is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 10, when they travel to Peoria, Ill., to take on Bradley.
