CHICAGO- The UIC men’s tennis team battled IPFW on Saturday at the Hinsdale Racquet Club, but were unable to come away with the win falling 6-1.
”We need to improve on closing out games by dictating consistently,” stated head coach Hans Neufeld.
In singles, Alan Reifer came away with the only win of the day downing Jonathan Raa 6-2, 6-3 in the number two position.
Alexander Raa faced Daniel Kang in the one position, but fell 6-4, 6-5. Carl Hedstrom took his No. 3 match with Andres Cobos to three, but ultimately fell 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Isaac Lloveras also pushed to three in his No. 4 match against Gerald Guell, but fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. In the number five position, Eric Pontow faced Martin Muadi dropping his match 5-6(4),6-5(5), 10-5. Nate Campanile lost in two straight to Karl Wangensten-Oye, 6-0, 6-3, in the number six position.
The Flames were unable to come away with a doubles win with A. Raa and Hedstrom falling to Kang and Cobos in the number one position 6-5 (11-9). Pontow and Lloveras took Guell and Muadi in the No. 2 spot, but lost 6-5 (8-6). Christopher Cole and Reifer teamed up in the number 3 position, but fell to J. Raa and Wangensten-Oye 6-3.
