Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's tennis team began their spring slate this past Friday, dropping a tough dual match to DePaul, 7-0, at the Lakeshore Athletic Club.

The Flames (1-1) were outdueled by the Blue Demons (1-0) in both doubles and singles play in their first team contest of the season since a 6-1 defeat of Chicago Sate on October 8th, 2003.

UIC had no answers for the Demons. Only junior Karol Zarucki could manage a tight singles battle, taking Mark Henderson to the limits in their first set, 7-6, before falling in the final set, 6-3.

2003 ITA qualifiers Robert Kotroczo and George Wang took singles matches from fellow ITA participants Yevgen Ryeznik and Paul Glendenning, respectively. Kotroczo downed Ryeznik 6-1, 6-2, while Wang defeated Glendenning 6-2, 6-1.

Glendenning and newcomer Sean Kreymborg kept close in their doubles bout with George Wang and Will Wang until DePaul's sibling duo put the match away at 8-5.

The Flames return to action this Wednesday, January 21st when they travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to face Marquette. Start time is 4 p.m.
