Chicago, Ill. - UIC swimming and diving head coach Paul Moniak announced the signing of Kyle Handlen (Pekin, Ill./Pekin Community), Michael Greco (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and Michael Reilly (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) to National Letters of Intent on Thursday.

All three local standouts qualified for the state meet during their junior season, and are in the midst of preparing for the 2009 IHSA state championships prior to joining the Flames for the 2009-10 season.

Handlen placed 13th in the 100 free and 16th in the 200 free, Reilly took 18th in the 50 free and had a top 25 finish in the 100 free, while Greco qualified for state in the one-meter diving competition, placing 17th on the low board in 2008.

"We feel these three fine individuals will help us significantly," said Moniak. "We look forward to having them be part of our team in 2009."
