Swimming And Diving Signs 11 Student-Athletes To National Letters Of Intent|

Chicago, Ill. - UIC Head Swimming and Diving Coach Paul Moniak announced the singing of 11 student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Monday.
The four men and seven women who have signed with the UIC swimming and diving program are:

Here's a brief look at all 11 signees that make up one of the top classes in the history of the UIC swimming and diving program:
Will Ikeda: Ikeda placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke at the IHSA 2007 state championships. A native of Skokie, Illinois, Ikeda attends Niles North, the Alma Matter of current UIC swimming and diving standouts Sonia Peterson and Andy Peterson. Ikeda swims for the Leaning Tower YMCA Club. Ikeda currently holds personal-best times of 58.0 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 1:58.0 in the 200 IM.
Luke Martinez: Martinez was a state qualifier in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events and swam on the Marmion Academy 400 freestyle relay at state in 2007. Martinez currently holds two age-group records for his club team, the Academy Bullets Swim Club. Martinez has personal-best times of 4:43.23 in the 500-yard freestyle and 16:06.82 in the 1650-yard freestyle events.
Steve Mell: Mell, a member of the Etobicoke Swim Club in Mississauga, Ontario, has personal bests of 4:11.3 (long course, meters) in the 400 free and 8:32.22 (short course, meters) for the 800 freestyle.
Zach Van Swol: Van Swol took fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle at the IHSA 2007 state championships. Van Swol swims for the Tinley Park Sharks Club team and holds personal-bests of 4:39.39 in the 500-yard freestyle and 9:44.77 in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Andrea Belter: Belter placed ninth in the 100-yard freestyle at the 2007 IHSA state finals. A Naperville, Illinois native, Belter competes for the Fox Valley Swim Club, along with fellow signee Hannika Schleebs. Belter's best times include a 50-yard freestyle time of 24.10 and 58.7 100-yard butterfly.
Lilian Cabel: Cabel, a long distance competitor for St. Charles East as well as the St. Charles Swim Club team, has personal bests of 5:15.17 in the 500 freestyle and 10:55 in the 1000-yard freestyle events.
Alexandra Farrar: Farrar, an Oregon native and a member of the Tualatin Hills Swim Club, comes to UIC with personal best times of 58.9 for the 100-yard backstroke, 58.67 in the 100-yard butterfly and a 200-yard butterfly time of 2:07.71.
Sarah Harper: Harper, a breaststroke/IM specialist swims for the Schroeder YMCA Swim Club and holds personal best times of 2:27.0 in the 200-yard breaststroke, 2:13 in the 200-yard IM, and 4:44 in the 400-yard IM.
Kelley Hinklin: Hinklin, from Louisville, Kentucky, competes for Dupont Manual High School and the Lakeside Seahawks Swim Team. Hinklin holds personal bests of 1:05.95 in the 100-yard breaststroke and a 200-yard IM time of 2:10.10.
Hannika Schleebs: Schleebs led three Waubonsie Valley relays to All-State status at the 2007 IHSA state finals. Schleebs anchored the sixth-place 400-yard free relay as well as the seventh-place 200-yard medley relay, and capped her school career with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Schleebs competes for the Fox Valley Swim Club, along with fellow UIC signee Andrea Belter. Schleebs holds individual personal best-times of 54.0 in the 100-yard freestyle and 1:59 in the 200-yard freestyle events.
Sarah Walsh: Walsh was a state qualifier in the 100-yard breastroke in the 2007 season. Walsh swims for the Leaning Tower YMCA Club team and holds personal-bests of 1:06.98 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:30.80 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
