CHICAGO – Senior Mike Greco and sophomore Whitney Johnson were named Horizon League Divers of the Week for Oct. 29-Nov. 4, the League office announced on Tuesday.  This marks the second accolade of the season for both Greco and Johnson.

A native of Naperville, Ill., Greco tallied first-, second- and third-place finishes while competing with Northwestern, Western Kentucky and Milwaukee.  Against the Wildcats and Hilltoppers on Nov. 2, Greco took first in the three-meter dive with 276.20 and third in the one-meter with 259.65.  In a conference meet versus the Panthers on Nov. 3, Greco began with second place (312.38) in the 3-mtr and finished with first (309.00) and an NCAA qualifying standard in the 1-mtr.

Greco's first honor came during the week of Oct. 22-28, making this his second consecutive of the season and fifth career total.  On Oct. 27, Greco posted a pair of first-place finishes in the 1-mtr with 315.83, an NCAA qualifying standard, and 310.28 in the 3-mtr, assisting the Flames in their 165-67 victory over Eastern Illinois.

The Roscoe, Ill. native came away with a pair of first-place finishes, in addition to placing second and third, as the women’s team faced Northwestern and Milwaukee on Nov. 2-3.  Going up against a tough Wildcat team, Johnson came away with third in the 3-mtr with 229.70 and second in the 1-mtr with 258.70.  While taking on the Panthers, Johnson held on for first with an NCAA standard in the 1-mtr (277.95) and another first in the 3-mtr (241.28).

Her third career honor and second of the season, Johnson previously garnered the accolade for the week of Oct. 8-15 after putting up 226.13 in the 1-mtr for first and 215.25 in the 3-mtr for third to aid UIC in their 176-122 win against Eastern Illinois.

The Flames dive back into competition this Saturday, when they host Illinois Institute of Technology, in addition to the women facing Butler, at 2:30 p.m. (CT) inside the Flames Natatorium.
