CHICAGO – The UIC men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams welcome Milwaukee in their second home meet of the season on Saturday.  Competition is set to get underway at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Flames Natatorium.

The Flames return to the pool after competing in a dual meet with EIU and IUPUI last weekend. Both squads defeated EIU with a men’s score of 138-65 and a women’s score of 139-65. The teams were unable to come away with a win against IUPUI and the men were defeated 121-83, while the women fell short 105-99.

The men’s squad (1-3, 0-2 HL) had four swimmers set Ray Padovan Pool records last Saturday. Ryota Kuwahara in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:49.52, Mike Reed in the 50 free with a time of 20.97, Ramiro Almaraz in the 400 IM with a time of 4:11.34, and Kei Ishimaru in the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.77.

Five first-place finishes were recorded for the women’s squad (2-2, 1-1 HL), with three being Ray Padovan Pool records.  Monica Pinkus set a record with a time of 1:04.46 in the 100 breaststroke, and also took first in the 50 free with a time of 24.33. Danel Voorhees put up a top time as well with a record-setting 100 fly (58.18). Veronica Gibson was the last Flame to set a record with her time of 4:36.48 in the 400 IM.
