IRVINE, Calif. - UIC senior standout Steve Yemm closed out competition on the highest national stage this afternoon with a pair of tremendous finishes at the 2010 ConcoPhillips National Championships, held at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irivine, California.

The Sterling, Ill. native finished 56th in the 200 Fly with a 2:05.56 showing in the prelims on Wednesday before a 55.30 performance in the 100 fly, good for 41st place.

"Throughout his Flames' career, Steve has enjoyed great success every year," said head coach Paul Moniak. "These results are a sign of good things to come in his senior season."

Yemm enters his final season as a school record-holder in three individual events: the 100 fly, the 200 fly and the 100 backstroke. He is also a member of four school record relay teams, set in 2009. Yemm was one of four Flames' to earn All-American Honorable Mention honors from CollegeSwimming.com in the spring.

World record-holder Michael Phelps claimed the top spot in 200 Fly finals on Wednesday night and enters Thursdays' 100 final with the fastest time during the prelims.
