    CHICAGO - The UIC men's and women's swimming & diving teams held their annual awards banquet and brunch Sunday at the Holiday Inn - Mart Plaza, where they acknowledged the 2012-13 season achievements and named the 2013-14 team captains.

    "Today we recognized the efforts of our student-athletes during a successful 2012-13 season," head coach Paul Moniak.  "We wish our seniors the best of luck in the future and look forward to the 2013-14 season."

    The Flames honored their two seniors, Mike Greco and Emily Gniatczyk, as well as their volunteer assistant coaches, Steve Yemm and Sheri Meyer.

    Recipients of the Sam Kooistra Scholarship Award were named, with John Mordach and Alisa Penkala collecting the accolade.

    Moniak also announced the captains for the 2013-14 season.  Leading UIC will be Woody Lord, Brian Sivak and Josh Jacobson for the men's team and Anne Jacobsen, Monica Pinkus and Melanie Waszak for the women.
