Chicago, Ill. - Senior Andrea Giczewski and Junior Tristan Oleynik were named the Horizon League swimmer and diver of the week for the period ending Jan. 26, the league office announced Wednesday.

Giczewski earned her league accolade for a record-breaking performance in the pool on Jan. 26 against Valparaiso at the UIC Natatorium. The senior co-captain broke UIC school records in the 100 and 200 freestyle events on senior day, the last home meet of the year.

Giczewski took down the 200 free record, previously set by Julie-Anne Chico in 1999, to 1:54.69. The sprint freestyle specialist lopped off .08 seconds off her own 100 free record later in the meet, winning the event in 51.91.

This marks the fourth Horizon League honor Giczewski has earned this season, coming on the heels of awards received Oct. 17, Nov. 13, and Jan. 15.

Oleynik, the Flames diving captain, picked up a second male diver of the week award after sweeping the one and three-meter events against Valparaiso this past weekend.

The Wheaton native won the one-meter with a score of 265.40, and the three-meter in 268.40.

The Flames swimming and diving team wrap up its regular season in Ohio against Cleveland State and Youngstown State, in Cleveland on Saturday Feb. 2 at 11 a.m.
