Swimming And Diving Close Out The Month At The TYR Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - UIC swimming and diving showed a strong effort against top competitors this past weekend at the TYR Invitational hosted by Northwestern. The men and women both finished in sixth place. The men finished the weekend out with 408 points, while the women closed the invite up with 216 points. Brian Anderson had a strong performance for the Flames in the Norris Aquatics Center. Anderson finished in sixth place in the 50 free (21.76), took seventh in the 200 free (1:44.05), and placed eighth in the 100 free (46.57) Zach Van Swol placed the highest for UIC in the 1650 free taking fifth place (16:03.89) On the women's side, Clair Martin finished in sixth place in the 200 back (2:05.46). Other notable finishes for the Flames were Luke Martinez in the 400 IM (seventh place, 4:11.00) and 200 back (eighth place, 1:59.72, Andrew Schmitt in the 200 fly (sixth place, 1:52.35) and 100 fly (eighth place, 50.55), Steve Yemm in the 100 fly (seventh place, 50.34), Evan Dunn in the 200 IM (eighth place, 1:56.46), Brooke Sawyer in the 100 fly (tenth place, 57.86) and 200 fly (tenth place, 2:07.89). In diving, Mike Greco took second with 292.10 from the three meter broad.
UIC swimming and diving will be back in action when they host Western Illinois on Dec. 19, in the UIC Natatorium at 2 p.m. |
