COLUMBUS, Ohio- UIC Divers Connor Howard, Tyler Pastore and Whitney Johnson brought their season to a close Friday, as they concluded the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at Ohio State’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion after competing in the men’s and women’s one-meter and three-meter.

“Overall the UIC divers did alright,” stated head diving coach Susan Bromberg. “Our main focus this year was to do well at the Horizon League Championships, which we did. We came into this meet to gain experience with a higher level of competition.”

The Flames challenged opponents they’ve seen over this past season and new faces over the two days of competition.

Freshman Tyler Pastore competed on the three-meter board on day one of competition coming in 41st place with his score of 191.80.

Junior Connor Howard dove from the one-meter board on Friday to land himself in 38th place, scoring 232.90.

“Tyler [Pastore] and Connor [Howard] did ok and gained some good experience diving against some very tough competition,” added Bromberg. “

Junior Whitney Johnson started competition on the one-meter board Thursday. She placed 41st with her score of 216.70. Friday brought Johnson to the three-meter board where she 226.40, good for 33rd place.

“Whitney [Johnson] dove better today and was very consistent through the event,” continued Bromberg.
