    Final Stats

    CHICAGO - UIC swimming and diving junior Steve Yemm set the Horizon League record in the 100 butterfly at the UIC Natatorium on Thursday evening, as day three of the Championships came to a close.

    Yemm swam a 47.65 winning the 100 butterfly and beating the old record of 48.54, set by Wright State's Jason Schwartz in 1997.

    The Sterling, Ill. native also grabbed first place points in the 100 backstroke for the Flames with a time of 49.74.

    Brian Anderson continued his winning ways for the Flames, notching first place in the 200 freestyle (1:37.72).

    UIC's Luke Martinez and Evan Dunn took second and third in the 400 IM. Martinez swam a 3:55.82, while Dunn followed with a time of 4:00.45.

    For the women, Kayla Redig scored the top position in the 100 butterfly, swimming a time of 55.65 for the Flames.

    Clair Martin made her mark at today's meet, placing second in the 100 backstroke (56.66).

    The women's 800 freestyle relay team of Sarma Zemjanis, Martin, Hannah Mikrut, and McKinzie Jacobs took third place (7:33.96).

    Other notable UIC finishes for day three were Will Ikeda, placing third in the 100 breaststroke and Andrew Schmitt, taking second place in the 100 butterfly.


     

     

    The men sit in third place with 468 points, while the women hold down fourth spot with 389 points after three days of competition.

    The Flames return to the UIC Natatorium Saturday for the final day of the Championships. Preliminary rounds start at 10:30 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
