Milwaukee, Wis. - Paul Torres' second IM title highlighted second-day action at the 2001 MCC Swimming and Diving Championships for UIC.

In the men's 400 IM, Torres claimed his second championship in as many days as he won in a time of 4:00.93.

On the women's side Katie Cherwin placed third in the 100-yard butterfly (:58.87) for the Flames' highest finish of the day.

At the end of day two, the UIC women's team remained in fourth place with a total score of 221.50. The Flames, who are more than 200 points out of third, will look to hold off Cleveland State (220) in tomorrow's final day of competition.

On the men's side, UIC slipped tof fifth place with a score of 290. The Flames are 82 points behind fourth place CSU heading into Saturday.

The MCC Championship wraps up on Saturday, with swimming prelims beginning at 10:30 a.m. Diving finals start at 2 p.m. and swimming and diving finals again at 6 p.m. Conference awards will be given following the last event on Saturday night.
