CHICAGO- The UIC men’s and women’s diving teams concluded action at the UIC Diving Invitational on Saturday at the Flames Natatorium. Whitney Johnson came away with second-place finishes on the one-and three-meter boards, as Tyler Pastore took second on the one-meter.
“Whitney did well finishing second on both boards,” stated head diving coach Susan Bromberg. “She also achieved two more zone scores, putting her at a total of 11 on the season. She was very consistent throughout the day. I was very proud of the freshmen divers and it was great to see them compete. Next week we go to Ohio for Youngstown State and Cleveland State. After that we begin fine tuning for the Horizon League Championships.”
Beginning the competition on the one-meter board, Pastore took second with a final score of 288.65, a season-high score. Mark Ciesielski (256.60), Connor Howard (245.20) and Jeremy Rohrman (221.10) finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
After the lunch break, the men competed on the three-meter board. Rohrman’s personal best score of 280.00 put him in fourth place, with Ciesielski (265.85), Pastore (263.05) and Howard (236.65) all following behind him for fifth through seventh place finishes, respectively.
