AS A SENIOR (2011-2012): Won the 100 free in 9:39.04 and the 200 back in 1:55.27 against Wright State (10/15) ... took first in the 100 back with 54.67 and the 500 free with 4:41.14 at Eastern Illinois (10/29) ... finished first in the 1000 free (9:39.13) and 200 back (1:54.41) against Milwaukee (11/5) ... qualified and participated in the 500 free, 200 free, 1650 free, finishing fifth, and 200 back at the TYR Invitational (11/18-20) ... won the 200 free (1:43.56), 200 back (1:55.94) and 200 IM (1:55.84) against Western Illinois and Saint Louis (12/17) ... claimed first in the 200 IM with 1:55.08 and 500 free with 4:41.06 at Green Bay (01/14) ... was the runner up in the 100 back with 53.42 against Valparaiso (01/20) ... at Cleveland State (02/04), captured first in the 1000 free with 9:33.80 and 500 free with 4:37.84 ... set team bests on the season in the 1000 free (9:28.05) and 1650 free (15:48.70) and took fourth in the 500 free (4:32.41), with exhibitions of 52.07 in the 100 fly and 1:52.52 in the 200 back at the Horizon League Championships (02/22-25) ... had 16 top-3 performances throughout the season, with 13 coming in first place ... named Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week for Oct. 24-30

AS A JUNIOR (2010-2011): Came in second for the Flames for the season in the 500 free with a time of 4:33.72 (2/24) ... held a season best 1000 free record of 15:47.08 (2/26) ... took second for the year in the 100 backstroke with 53.14 (10/30) ... placed first in the 500 free and the 1000 free with 4:42.70 and 9:42.32 respectively at Wright State (10/23) ... came first in the 200 free with 1:42.96 and the 100 backstroke with 53.14 against Eastern Illinois (10/30) ... took first in the 200 free against Saint Louis with 1:43.72 (11/13) ... swam in first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:46.28 against Green Bay (1/15).

AS A SOPHOMORE (2009-2010): Started the season with a second place finish in the 1000 free (9:40.63) and a first place finish in the 500 free (4:41.81) against Wright State ... won the 200 free (1:44.59) and 200 back (1:56.22) at Eastern Illinois ... placed first in the 500 free against North Dakota (4:41.14) ... finished in first place in the 1000 free (9:38.38) and 500 free (4:41.50) at home ... won the 500 free at Northwestern (4:43.28) ... took first place in the 100 back (54.07) and 200 back (1:56.94) against Western Illinois ... third place finishes in the 500 free (4:30.00) and 1000 free (9:23.20) and placed second in the 1650 free (15:37.86) at the league championship.

AS A FRESHMAN (2008-2009): Won both the 500 (4:43.34) and 1000(9:44.91) free at his collegiate debut at Wright State ... runner-up in the 200 IM at Valparaiso (2:00.68) ... placed second in the 1650 free, third in the 1000 free, fourth in the 800 free relay, and sixth place in the 500 free at the Horizon League Championship.

PREP AND PERSONAL: Four-year letterwinner for the Griffins ... guided team to a sectional championship every year of his high school career ... earned All-Southwest Suburban Conference accolades, as well as All-State and All-American honors during his prep campaign ... named to the high honor roll ... competed with the North Aquatics Sharks club for three years, setting club records in numerous events ... also a four-year letterwinner for Lincoln-Way's water polo team ... born December 14, 1989 ... son of Tim and Maureen Van Swol ... majoring in biology.
