UIC swimming & diving head coach Paul Moniak announced on Wednesday that five student-athletes have signed a National Letter of Intent to compete with the Flames in the 2014-15 season. The men's team welcomes Tanner Alms and Christian Wilhelm, as the women's squad adds Rachel Criscione, Briana Hines, and Kaitlyn Knight.
The UIC men's and women's swimming & diving teams produced a collection of season-best times and scores as they wrapped competition at the TYR Invitational on Sunday at the Norris Aquatics Center. The three-day event hosted by Northwestern concluded with the men's squad (2-5, 1-2 HL) taking fourth place with 370.50 points and the women's team (2-5, 1-2 HL) placing fifth (385 points).
Following a 13-day break, the UIC men's and women's swimming and diving teams get set to compete at the TYR Invitational, hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill. The three-day tournament is scheduled to get underway with prelims at 9 a.m. (CT) on Friday at the Norris Aquatics Center.
The men's and women's swimming & diving teams were unable to outlast tough competition Saturday afternoon at the Flames Natatorium, as both squads fell to Northwestern and Wyoming. The men's squad produced a 229-67 final against both the Wildcats and Cowboys. The women finished with a final of 210-86 against Northwestern, and were outscored by Wyoming 220-80.
In their first of back-to-back meet, the UIC men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped to Wyoming on Friday at the Flames Natatorium. The women fell 152-84, as the men were outscored 143-81 by the Cowboys.
The UIC men's and women's swimming & diving teams head into the weekend with back-to-back meets. On Friday, the Flames take on Wyoming at the Flames Natatorium at 5 p.m. (CT), then turn around to host the Cowboys again with Northwestern joining on Saturday at 1 p.m.
