CHICAGO – The UIC men’s soccer team has earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced.  The Flames produced a combined 3.14 grade point average to garner the accolade for the first time in program history.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field.  Aside from the Flames, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Oakland and Valparaiso also represented the Horizon League among the 273 men’s teams who posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
