Chicago, Ill. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced the 2001 All-Midwest region teams on Wednesday as University of Illinois at Chicago defensemen Jay DeMerit (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and Joe Morelli (Holly, Mich./Brother Rice).

This marks the second time in as many years that DeMerit has been selected to the All-Midwest Region first team. As a sophomore, the Green Bay native, garnered second team honors.

DeMerit finished the 2001 campaign with four goals and three assists for a total of 11 points. For his career, DeMerit totaled 11 goals and 14 assists for 36 points. He finished his career tied for 10th in school history in assists along with teammate Kevin Brady.

Morelli, a two-time second-team All-Conference selection, was named to the All-Midwest Region third team. The Holly, Michigan native racked up two goals and one assist during the 2001 campaign.
