CHICAGO – Former UIC men’s soccer standout and Chicago Fire midfielder Baggio Husidic has been signed to the LA Galaxy, it was confirmed on Monday by the Galaxy’s head coach Bruce Arena.  Husidic spent the past two seasons with Sweden’s Hammarby club following three seasons with the Fire.

Husidic scored five goals during his time with the Fire, before being acquired by the Colorado Rapids in the 2011 re-entry.  Husidic decided to head to Sweden and spent two seasons with Hammarby, where he appeared in 41 games.  The Galaxy picked up Husidic’s MLS rights from Colorado in July.

At UIC, Husidic was a 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) First-Team All-American, the first player in program history to collect the accolade. While scoring 12 goals, five game-winners, with seven assists in his three seasons with the Flames, Husidic also was deemed Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 to mark his third-straight season as an All-League performer.

With the Galaxy out of the 2013 playoffs, Husidic will make his debut in 2014.
