Oct. 20, 2009
CHICAGO- The UIC men's soccer team welcomed back its proud alumni for a special night of festivities on Saturday, Oct. 17, with an alumni game and a special halftime ceremony honoring the 1999 NCAA tournament team.
Prior to the Flames' 1-0 win over Milwaukee, head coach John Trask and his players and staff welcomed alumni back to campus. Some familiar faces kicked the ball around for a friendly alumni contest prior to the match.
At intermission the alumni were honored, and UIC athletic director Jim Schmidt welcomed back Begovic and 1999 team members Greg Chrisman, Nick Dudziak, Stein Garcia, Chris Jamal, Ryan Lindgren and Jay Lindgren for a special ceremony honoring the 10-year anniversary of taking the Flames to their first-ever NCAA postseason berth.
Begovic was also presented with a commemorative plaque honoring his team and his upcoming induction into the UIC Athletic Hall of Fame.
