Chicago, Ill.- Thanks to his two-game stretch of clutch goals that kept the Flames undefeated in its last four contests, UIC senior Pete Kelley was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week for men's soccer on Monday.

The midfielder/forward from St. Charles, Ill., was honored for his outstanding play in UIC's past two league matches. Kelley scored the Flames' only two goals against UW-Green Bay on Sunday, including the game-winner, to propel UIC to its first Horizon League win of the season in a 2-1 victory over the Phoenix.

On October 16th, Kelley scored the game-tying goal in the 67th minute of the Flames' battle with first-place UW-Milwaukee to help UIC salvage a 2-2 draw and halt the Panthers' three-season Horizon League winning streak at 19 consecutive victories.

Kelley currently ranks third in the Horizon League in game-winning goals (3) and seventh in total goals (6). He currently has six goals and 12 points on the season, good for second on the team. In his previous three seasons combined, Kelley had two goals and nine points.

Kelley and the Flames are back in action on Tuesday, October 21 to take on Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., at 3 p.m.
