Chicago, Ill.- UIC senior forward Eric Cervantes (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates H.S.) was named the Horizon League Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 24th, the league office announced on Monday.
Cervantes earned the honor following his five-point effort in UIC's 3-0 win over league rival Detroit on Sunday. He opened the scoring against the Titans in the 20th minute, and after assisting on the Flames' second goal in the 81st minute he hit the back of the net for the second time in the 83rd minute to register his first career two-goal game.
The fourth-year striker is now tied for the team lead in goals with four.
