Sept. 20, 2005
Chicago, Ill.- After defeating Eastern Illinois this past Sunday, the UIC soccer team made a move up in the NSCAA/adidas Division I Midwest Regional Rankings with a fourth-place rating this week.
The Flames debuted in the rankings two weeks ago at No. 5 following their win over the then-No. 24 team in the entire nation, Loyola Marymount. UIC stayed in the fifth spot last week following a tie on the road against UC Irvine and an away victory over UMKC.
Creighton, who plays UIC in Omaha, Nebraska on October 5th, is the top-ranked team in the region. The Bluejays are followed by Missouri State and Bradley, another road opponent later in the year for the Flames.
After the fourth-ranked Flames are Tulsa, Memphis, Oral Roberts, and Saint Louis. Southern Methodist and Western Kentucky round out the Top 10 in the Midwest.
UIC continues its three-game homestand with the Flames' Horizon League opener against city rival Loyola at Flames Field this Friday, Sept. 23rd at 4:30 p.m. Central.
