Stanisavljevic Collects National, Horizon League Player of the Week Honors|

CHICAGO -UIC junior men's soccer player Ivan Stanisavljevic has been named the "Top Drawer Soccer" National Player of the Week, along with collecting Horizon League Player of the Week accolades, it was announced Monday morning. Stanisavljevic totaled 10 points last weekend in leading the Flames to the inaugural UIC Soccer Classic title.
Stanisavljevic enjoyed an explosive offensive performance in the UIC Soccer Classic, scoring four goals and tallying two assists, as the Flames climbed into first-place in the Horizon League standings with back-to-back wins over SIU-Edwardsville (Sept. 16) and Drake (Sept. 18) at Flames Field.
Against the Cougars, Stanisavljevic collected four points with one goal and two assists, including the game-winning helper in double-overtime. Against Drake, he tallied a three-goal hat trick, bolstered by the game-winner with less than 20 seconds remaining in double-overtime.
Heading into the fifth weekend of the season, Stanisavljevic, who was also named to the UIC Soccer Classic All-Tournament team, leads the Flames in both total points (13) and goals (4). The Horizon League plaudit marks the second of Stanisavljevic's career and first since Sept. 28, 2009.
The 10-point weekend put Stanisavljevic at the top of the Horizon League's points leaders with 13 on the year. In 2009, he led UIC with seven goals and 14 points before a one-point campaign in 2010. It marks the Flames' second Horizon League Player of the Week accolade this season, a league-high - Eric Frazier also nabbed the same honor on Sept. 5.
UIC will play one game this week, traveling to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Dayton Flyers on Friday (Sept. 23) beginning at 6 p.m. CST.
