Hello UIC soccer fans and welcome to the first edition of Blogging with Beard. I will be your correspondent over the next three months, giving you an inside look at the 2013 UIC men’s soccer team.
This year we added nine freshmen along with two transfers from Notre Dame. These eleven players have already made an impact with the team both on and off the field.
We had our first game this past weekend in which four of the starting 11 were newcomers, including many fresh faces that received significant playing time. The only way that this many new players can come in and play so well so quickly is by having good team chemistry.
Our squad this season is really cool with one another. We don’t just enjoy the company of each other on the field, but off the field as well. We have found that most of us share some of the same interests, whether it be our studies or even video games. This type of bonding off the field has helped to build our team chemistry and the quality of relationships that we have with one another. We are becoming a family, which is imperative to the success of our team this upcoming year.
One vital aspect that has really helped our team chemistry this year is the installation of air conditioning in our locker room. It was long overdue and has made the locker room a much more pleasant place to be both before and after training. I believe that the air conditioning and the team being cool will only lead to success on the field for us this season.
Thanks for reading and see you next week!
