Sept. 3, 2008

Chicago, Ill.- UIC junior Baggio Husidic (Velika Kladusa, Bosnia/Libertyville H.S.) was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Player of the Week for Sept. 3, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Husidic scored the equalizing penalty-kick goal and assisted on another tally in UIC's season-opening draw against UMKC on Aug. 29. He proceeded to head in another marker three days later to spur the Flames' 4-3 victory over fifth-ranked Santa Clara.

Each week the NSCAA will feature a male and female player of the week that will be selected by a committee from a nomination pool comprised of players of the week from each NCAA Division I soccer conference. The winners will be announced each Wednesday and will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on Fox Soccer Channel.

Husidic will be recognized at intermission of this week's Kentucky-UC Santa Barbara match at 10 p.m. Central on FSC.
