Jovan Bubonja Named One Of Major League Soccer's Top 20 Prospects

CHICAGO- The greatest goalkeeper in UIC history is also rated as one of the top players in the upcoming Major League Soccer SuperDraft, as ESPN Soccernet.com ranks Jovan Bubonja as one of professional league's the top 20 prospects. Bubonja is ranked 17th overall and tops among goalkeepers by Soccernet's Buzz Carrick. See Carrick's entire top 20 MLS prospects list here. A two-time All-American and a 2008 Hermann Trophy semifinalist, Bubonja posted a 0.65 goals-against average in 84 career contests for the Flames. He posted a record of 42-17-23 and led the Flames to three straight NCAA tournament berths, including two straight Sweet 16 appearances and an unprecedented Elite Eight run in 2007. Bubonja recorded 39 shutouts during his career, including double-digit clean sheets in three straight seasons. He holds school records for career shutouts, career goals-against average, career wins, single-season goals-against average and single-season shutouts. The Major League Soccer SuperDraft takes place in Philadelphia this Thursday at 1 p.m. Central and will air live on ESPN2 and online at ESPN360.com.
