    Box Score

CLEVELAND- Overtime is becoming a familiar place for the UIC men's soccer team thus far in 2009.

For the fourth time in the last six matches the Flames went the distance as UIC and Cleveland State were unable to settle their differences in 110 minutes and finished with a 1-1 draw at Krenzler Field on Sunday.

Derek Huffman scored his first goal of the season for the visiting Flames (1-2-4, 0-0-1 Horizon League), who extended their unbeaten streak to four matches and picked up their third tie during that span.

Huffman put the Flames on the board early in the second half. A ball from Ian Sarachan to Huffman in the 49th minute allowed the second-year man from Elgin to unleash a shot from the right side that jetted past keeper Nick Harpel and into the left side of the net for the UIC lead.

The Vikings (3-3-2, 1-0-1 Horizon League) evened the score in the 70th minute, when Audric Kilroy's pass to Justin Mancine near the front of the target allowed Mancine to sneak a ball past Jovan Bubonja for the equalizer.

In overtime a shot against frame by Kevin Stoll was stopped by Harpel, and a Sarachan attempt went just wide.

The Flames were the aggressors on the attack for much of the match, outshooting Cleveland State 13-9. Stoll struck four of those attempts.

Sunday wrapped up a five-match road trek for UIC. The Flames return home this Wednesday, Sept. 30 to host Wisconsin at 7 p.m. on the Flames Field pitch. That contest is the Flames' WHITE OUT game, as the first 1,000 fans will receive commemorative WHITE OUT t-shirts courtesy of UIC Athletics and American Family Insurance.
