Memphis, Tenn. - Playing in Memphis, Tenn., known for Graceland, home of "The King" Elvis Presley, it was only fitting that sophomore Dennis King (Colona, Ill./United Township) netted his first goal of the season. His effort, however, was not enough to lift UIC past Alabama A&M in the first round of the Memphis Diadora Invitational as the Flames fell 2-1.

The Bulldogs struck first, at 35:39 on a goal by Mujib Kasule, and enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the half. King, who missed UIC's first two games of the season with an injury, then knotted the game at 1-1 just four minutes into the final stanza with the assist going out to rookie Patrick Grange (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque).

Alabama A&M's Jamil Kayondo, however, managed to get one more ball past Flames' goalkeeper Jeff Kusiciel (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) in the 88th minute of play to claim the victory. Kusiciel made four saves in the loss as UIC falls to 0-3 on the season.

The Flames, who were outshot in the loss, 14-8, will face off against the hosts from Memphis on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2:00 p.m. Memphis drew a 1-1 tie against Charlotte in their matchup Friday evening.
