Box Score

Birmingham, Ala.- Charlie Trout knocked in the game-winning goal in the 84th minute to propel the 25th-ranked UIC men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over UAB at West Campus Field on Friday night.

The Flames (2-0-1) won their second straight match thanks to late heroics from Trout and Baggio Husidic. Husidic delivered a clever heel ball to Trout, who slipped an attempt past keeper Wes Johnson and into the lower right corner for the decisive tally.

Jovan Bubonja and the UIC defense registered the first clean sheet of the season, with Bubonja making a pair of saves against the Blazers (1-2-0).

"Great result in a tough game," said UIC head coach John Trask. "Unbelievable composure displayed by our guys tonight.

"Compliments to [UAB head coach] Mike Getman, [assistant coach] Justus Griffin and [assistant coach] Ernie Yarborough for having very good UAB team," said Trask. "It's nice to play one of the top teams in Conference USA."

Friday's match marked the second time in three games this season that UIC has scored with six minutes left in the second period.

Husidic now has a point in each of UIC's three contests in 2008.

UIC heads to Huntsville, Ala. to play Alabama A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m. Central.
