Dan Simek, a four-year letterwinner for the Flames from 2005-2008, returns to UIC as an undergraduate assistant coach for the 2009 campaign. Simek, a member of the first recruiting class of the John Trask era, appeared in 53 matches during his UIC career. He totaled five goals and three assists during his tenure with the Flames and was a part of three NCAA Tournament runs, including UIC's memorable Elite Eight journey in 2007, in addition to two Horizon League regular season champions and the 2007 Horizon League tournament champions. A native of LaGrange, Ill. and a graduate of Lyons Township High School, Simek played at the club level for Sockers FC Chicago.
