CHICAGO- Catch the UIC men's gymnastics team this Monday evening on WGN-TV as the Flames volunteer their efforts for the 44th annual Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon.

The Flames are slated to answer phones for donations between 4-7 p.m. Central.

The annual telethon, started in 1966 by famed entertainer Jerry Lewis, supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The UIC men's gymnastics team has volunteered its services to the Chicagoland telethon efforts for the past two years. The Flames have also put their gymnastics skills on display in front of the television audience during past telethons.

"UIC men's gymnastics is very excited to be invited back to this great event that supports so many people with special needs," said UIC head coach "CJ" Johnson. "We in the sport of gymnastics are blessed with the abilities we have and should not take for granted what we have.

"Our team effort is in support of helping others."

"This event is really a win-win for UIC gymnastics," said assistant coach Charley Nelson. "It's a lot of fun for the guys and there's a tangible and positive result at the end. We are really proud to be a part of the MDA Telethon."

Among the hosts at the Chicago MDA Telethon base are gymnastics legends Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci.
