April 4, 2007

Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's gymnastics team will be featured prominently at the 2007 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships next weekend, as eight Flames were selected as individual qualifiers.

Representing UIC in the all-around will be senior and Nissen-Emery Award finalist Tim Morrison and sophomore Anthony May.

UIC received 10 individual event spots. Freshman Andrew Stover led the way with three selections, as the rookie will compete on floor exercise, still rings and high bar.

Fellow first-year phenom Nikolai Korepanov received two national nods. The ECAC Rookie of the Year will compete on rings and parallel bars.

Sophomore Jeffrey Bill also garnered two selections. Bill will represent the Flames on vault and floor exercise.

Sophomores Bobby Solomon (vault) and Kevin Baune (high bar) and freshman Joe Ernst (pommel horse) round out UIC's national meet contingent.

The 2007 National Collegiate Men's Gymnastics Championships will take place from April 12-14 at Recreation Hall on the campus of Penn State. UIC's representatives will begin the event in one of two pre-qualifying sessions held on April 12.

The top three all-arounders and individual finishers on each event that are not on an advancing team will move on to final competitions on April 13-14.
