    CHICAGO – The UIC men’s gymnastics team continues its season Saturday against eighth-ranked Michigan at 6:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Cliff Keen Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. This will be the second time this season UIC faces Michigan.

    The Flames return to action after facing a 355.5-337.8 loss to Stanford Sunday(Feb 12). The Flames dropped a 355.5 against the Wolverines 337.8. Despite the loss, Flames opened up strong claiming a 58.0 against the Cardinal’s 60.7 on the floor exercise. Fifth-ranked junior Dan Zerbel (Portage, Mich./Kalamazoo School of Gymnastics) led the floor exercise posting a 15.6 and setting a school record for the Flames.

    Leading the Flames on the pommel horse, eighth-ranked Lukasz Adamczyk (Deerfield, Ill./Stevenson) finished third against the Cardinal claiming a 14.8.

    Justin Maxwell (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Park District) and David Ishida (Woodridge, Calif./Technique) dominated the rings with their performances. Maxwell posted a 14.9 on the rings to finish the event third overall, while Ishida claimed fifth place earning a 14.7. As a team, UIC compiled a 58.1 to Stanford's 60.6.

    On vault, the team posted 56.0 during the fourth rotation. Brett Valin (Chicago, Ill./Ultimate Gymnastics) and Aaron Eyster (Rochelle, Ill./Bartlett Gymnastics) led the Flames as the duo recorded 14.2. The team was defeated by Stanford’s top score of 58.4.

    The team concluded strong totaling 55.4 and 53.4 points competing in the parallel bars and high bars during the final rotation.
