Chicago, Ill.- UIC senior gymnast Tim Morrison (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East H.S.) was selected as one of eight finalists for the prestigious Nissen-Emery Award that is presented each year to the nation's top collegiate senior gymnast.

Just like the Heisman Trophy is to college football, the Nissen-Emery Award is the crown jewel of individual awards in college men's gymnastics.

Morrison is one of the NCAA's top all-arounders in his fourth season with the Flames. He is currently ranked 15th in the national all-around rankings with an average score of 50.383.

In addition to his accomplishments in the gym, the UIC co-captain is also the president of the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

The Nissen-Emery Award was founded by trampoline inventor George Nissen and has been given out annually since 1966.

The winner of the Nissen-Emery Award will be announced just before the NCAA National Men's Gymnastics Championships, which take place April 12-14 at Penn State's Rec Hall in University Park, Pa.
