CHICAGO – UIC gymnast Dan Zerbel has been named ECAC Gymnast of the Week, as it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.  Zerbel came away with three season-highs scores while competing against No. 4 Ohio State on March 9.

A senior from Portage, Mich., Zerbel tabbed a season-high score of 15.500 on floor, just behind the Badgers’ Daniel Steiner with a 15.700.  He took another second-place finish after posting a career-high 14.700 on horizontal bar and set a season high on vault with 14.150, while also competing on parallel bars for a score of 12.850.

In the national rankings, Zerbel is No. 20 on floor with an average of 14.510, as he holds the team’s highest score of the season in the event in addition to his 14.700 on horizontal bar.

Zerbel and the Flames are back to competition on Sunday with their final home meet of the season, as they are scheduled to take on Temple.  UIC will also honor its seniors in a post-competition ceremony.
