Chicago, Ill. - UIC freshman Neal Thompson (Woodside, Calif./Carlmont) earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie Gymnast of the Week for the period ending Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Thompson led UIC against Iowa on Jan. 26, taking home the parallel bars title (14.700) and placing second in the all-around behind teammate Anthony May with an 82.350.

The rookie also notched a personal-best on still rings (14.250) and placed fourth on the pommel horse (13.600) to pace the Flames.

This is the second time this season that Thompson has earned the honor.
